The news came to the family of Ben Ward last week that the son Will died at his home in California on the 22d of November. They have been expecting any mail would bring these sad tiding but death is always a shock. Mr. and Mrs. Ward have had to submit to having two of their children go to southern California in search of health, and both have died there. It is very hard to bear and they have the sympathy of their neighbors and friends. The son Will always had his home here until he went to California about six year ago, was associated with his father in mercantile business and had the confidence of his patrons. Wm. H. Ward was born in Burr Oak January, 1861, was married to Addie Hitchcock in the fall of 1886. They had three daughters, one of them lies in our cemetery. The other two are young ladies in the home. It was the request of Will that his body should be cremated, which was done according to his wishes. A funeral was conducted in the cemetery chapel at Altadena, and the crematory is close by. In this same cemetery the sister, Mrs. Edna Ward-Taylor was buried. It is expected that sometime during the next summer the ashes will be buried in our cemetery beside the little daughter, Nada.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he was born Jan. 6, 1861 and is buried in the Mountain View Cemetery in Altadena, CA
