Death of a Former Decorian.
Old timers will remember A. A. Aiken, a business man way back in land office times, and that he married as a second wife Miss Clara M. Thatcher. She was a late comer to Decorah, and an active member of society as well as a woman of unusual business capacity. The later years of her life have been spent in California, and there has just come to our hand through the kindness of Mrs. Cyrus McKay an announcement of her death at San Diego, Cal. It occurred on the 14th ult. The notice says she leaves one son, Edward T. Aiken, living at Campo, Cal., and is survived by a sister, Mrs. Sara T. Robinson of Redlands, Cal., and Edwin Thacher{sp} of New York City. She was a native of New York, aged 68 years and 8 months.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows she was born Feb. 1840 and died Oct. 11{?}, 1907 {this doesn’t agree with the above date or age}. She is buried in Mt. Hope Cemetery in San Diego, CA.
