It has seldom been our lot to chronicle so sad an affliction as has befallen William Johnson and family. Last Saturday evening a three-year-old daughter was stricken with spinal meningitis. Medical aid was at once summoned and everything possible was done to relieve the little sufferer, but without avail. After twenty-eight hours of suffering death came to its relief. While preparations were being made for the funeral a second and younger daughter was taken with the same disease and after ten hours of sickness also passed away. Thus two little flowers of an afflicted household lay side by side in the same casket, soon to be deposited in a single grave, This is certainly a sore bereavement and the large circle of friends deeply sympathize with the heartbroken family in their deep gloom of sorrow. The funeral services will be conducted from the family residence to-day (Wednesday) the Rev. Dickinsheets officiating.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows the older daughter was Lottie who was born June 26, 1895 and died April 16, 1899. The younger daughter was Oliva who was born July 18, 1897 and died April 18, 1899. They are buried in Pleasant View Cemetery.
