Death Claims Mrs. Johanna Hegg.
At an early hour yesterday morning Mrs. Johanna Hegg passed away the home of her son-in-law B. Anundsen, after an illness of several months. The cause of death was a cancer which started in the sole of one of her feet, while she was visiting her daughter Mrs. F. H. Anundsen at Denver Colo., last year. Its seriousness was not apparent at first and not until she returned home did it develop into a{n} alarming condition. In May last an operation was performed which afforded temporary relief, but the disease had progressed beyond recovery and when death came to her it was a blessed relief. Mrs. Hegg was in her sixty-second year and had been a resident of Decorah for upwards of thirty-five years. She was the widow of H. A. Hegg, who was well known here in early days as a harness maker. Two daughters survive her—Mrs. B. Anundsen and Mrs. F. H. Anundsen—both of whom were with her in her last hours. The funeral will be held to-morrow afternoon at 1:30 o’clock at the house, Rev. Abraham Jacobson officiating, and interment will be made in the Norwegian cemetery.
A good woman has gone to her reward.

Transcriber’s Note: Her gravestone in Lutheran Decorah Cemetery shows her first name spelled Johanne. She was born Feb. 10 1846 and died Nov. 6, 1907.
