Died in California.
News of the death of former County Treasurer W. O. Nordheim, came last Friday from Whittier, California. When he moved to the coast two years ago it was his hope that the ravages of consumption, which already held him in its grasp, might at least be stayed, and for a time he was better. Last spring he returned to Winneshiek county, hoping that a summer spent out on his parental farm would be beneficial but it did not prove so. He left here only five weeks ago but at that time it was not thought the end would come so soon. Mr. Nordheim was born in Pleasant township. A common school education was followed by courses at Decorah Institute and the state university, after which he taught in Decorah Institute, leaving the school to become deputy treasurer under L. B. Whitney, and later succeeding to the principal position which he held for two years. In his service he left a splendid record for efficiency. He is survived by his wife and four children, two sons and two daughters.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he was born Jan. 3, 1868 and died Oct. 25, 1907. He is buried in Mt. Olive Cemetery in Whittier, CA.
