Decorah Republican December 27, 1906, P6 C2

Wm. Hemesath, one of Calmer township’s oldest farmers, died at his home north of town last Thursday, at the age of 71 years. As he was a long and patient sufferer, death came as a relief, and he has gone to meet his wife, who preceded him to the other world about thirteen years ago. The funeral services were held at the parish church Saturday at 10 a. m., the remains being later interred at St. John’s cemetery. The deceased is survived by four sons, John, Frank, Clemens and Anton, all of this place, and also four daughters, Mrs. Herman Bohr of Ossian, Mrs. Bauman of Starr, S. D., and Misses Mary and Josephine, who are at home. Those from out of town who were in attendance at the services were Messrs. Joe, Anton and George Hauber and J. H. Haug of Spillville, Peter Meyer and wife of Calmar and Mrs. John Meyer of Cresco.

Transcriber’s Note: St. John’s Cemetery shows he was born Jan. 15, 1836 and died Dec. 20, 1906.
