Lieutenant Hubert D. Easler, United States Navy, son of Edward and Myrtle Benson Easler, was born Sept. 30, 1918 in Winneshiek County, Iowa, and passed away June 20, 1975 at Howard County Hospital in Cresco, Iowa.

Lt. Easler was united in marriage to Amanda Jean Cragmile of Pocomoke City, Maryland on May 25, 1948. A son, William, was born to this union.

Lt. Easler served 16 years in the United States Navy. During his military career he was presented the DISTINGUISHED FLYING CROSS for extraordinary achievement and heroism while participating in aerial flight as Patrol Plane Commander of a Navy Search Bomber.

Survivors are: the son, William of Chincoteague, Va.; a sister, Mrs. Percy (Elda) Kraling of Harmony; one brother, Merrit Easler of Chatfield. His parents, one sister and one brother preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held Monday at 11 a.m.at the Methodist Church in Cresco. Rev Wayne Wasta officiated. Pallbearers were cousins of the deceased. Burial was in the State Line cemetery.
