John Eral died at his home Sunday morning at 5:20 o’clock after a lingering illness. He was born in Nakri, Bohemia, May 16, 1833,{?} coming to America in June, 1851, settling at Davenport. After a two months’ residence there he came to Winneshiek county, afterwards going to Chicago, where in 1862 he was united in marriage with Miss Mary Sladek. In 1866 they moved to Winneshiek county, settling on a farm, and in 1874 moved to Pocahontas county, where they resided until May 4, 1899, when they moved to Winneshiek county, and have since made this place their home. Mr. Eral is survived by four sons and two daughters, James, Frank, Joseph, John, Mary and Rosie; his wife preceded him in death, having passed away April 14, 1903. Mr. Eral was a kind friend and neighbor, ever ready to help those in need and his sudden passing away has cast a gloom over the community. The funeral services took place in St. John’s church to-day at 10:00 a. m., interment afterwarsd{sic} being made in the Catholic cemetery. A large concourse of friends followed the remains to their last resting place.
