Mr. Whalan{sp} was buried from St. Bridget’s {?} church in the west part of the township. Mrs. Sharp from the M. E. church in this village on Thursday and Mrs. Wade from the same on Friday both of which were largely attended. Rev. Hallett preached two splendid sermons which were closely listened to by appreciative audiences. Rachel Moore was born in Pocahontas county, W. Va., March 18, 1824; married there to James Sharp Feb. 24, 1842. They moved to Iowa in 1853 and settled just across the Burr Oak line in Hesper township, where they lived until 1861 when they made a home four miles northwest of Burr Oak village.
