Carsten Odson Holkesvik, 55, of Decorah died January 6 at the Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital after an illness of two weeks. A former nursery man in the area he was a resident of County Care Center in Freeport.

Pastor Paul Christianson conducted funeral services Wednesday, Jan. 8 at Olson-Fjelstul Funeral Home with burial in the Decorah Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Olson-Fjelstul Funeral Home.

Mr. Holkesvik was born February 18, 1916 in Decorah. He attended high school in Carson, N.D. and was in the service four years during World War II. He had been married, and his wife preceded him in death in 1967.

Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Anna Holkesvik, Apt. 5, 119 N. Mill in Decorah and a son, Rolfe Holkesvik of Arlington, Texas.

His father also preceded him in death.
