Last Saturday Fred Schellhamer was kicked by a horse and so seriously injured that a council of doctors was called Sunday morning. In spite of all that could be done Mr. Schellhamer died Sunday night. The funeral was conducted in the U. C. church Tuesday at 2 p. m. Rev Montgomery gave short talk, after which the services were conducted in the U. B. church Tuesday at church at Luana. A large congregation was present to pay their last respects to their friend and neighbor and many floral offerings were presented. The M. B. A. lodge of which Mr. Schellhamer was a member attended in a body. Fred Schellhamer was born in Shoabough, Germany, Sept. 1 1860, and died at Castalia Iowa, July 8, 1906. He was married Feb. 28, 1888, to Cathrina Mundt. To them were born seven children, five girls and two boys. One son died about ten years ago and the remaining six children, with his wife, one brother and two sisters survive him. Mr. Schellhamer was a member of the Lutheran church in Germany, He was a good father, an honest citizen and a respected neighbor. The sympathy of the community is extended to Mrs. Schellhamer and her children in their sudden bereavement.
