Peter W. Johnson, a retired employee of the Marshalltown Soldiers Home, died Wednesday, Aug. 23 at his home in Glenwood Township at the age of 72. Funeral services were conducted by Pastor Dell C. Olson Saturday morning at Steine Funeral Home with burial in the Lutheran Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Herman Sanders, Joseph Tangen, Dewey Tangen, Merlin Tangen, Clem Dinger and Lester Sampson. Alan Sensor was organist, and Mrs Melbourne Faldet was soloist.

Peter Johnson was born July 10, 1900 in Winneshiek County. He attended rural schools and was an overseas veteran in the African campaign in World War II.

Survivors include three sisters, Mrs.Julia Musser and Mrs. Helma Olson, both of Decorah and Mrs. Lyle Deane, Charles City, Ia. He had never married.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry C. and Pernilla Johnson, three brothers and three sisters.

Mr. Johnson was a member of First Lutheran Church.
