LeRoy Koehler of R6, Decorah died suddenly Friday night following a heart attack. He was 52 years of age. A resident of Decorah since 1958, Mr. Koehler had been an employee of the Continental Baking Co. as a route salesman for past 25 years. He had attended the football game Friday night and left at half-time complaining that he did not feel well and died at his home a short time later.

Funeral services for Mr. Koehler were held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in New Hampton with the Rev. Robert Toso of New Hampton and the Rev. Virgil Hougen of Decorah officiating. Arrangements were made by Conway Funeral Home of New Hampton.

Mr. Koehler is survived by his wife, the former Bernadine Fisher; two sons, Michael of Mason City and Dennis of Stevens Point, Wis.; three grandchildren, Scott, Christine and Brian; one brother, Walden, of Fredericksburg, Ia. and one sister, Mrs. Ray (Viola) Priebe of Eldora, Ia.

The well-known Decorah man was a member of the VFW, the local Elks Lodge and Silvercrest Golf and Country Club.

He was born February 24, 1921 in New Hampton where he received his education. He served with the 17th Airborne Division in World War II as a paratrooper. He was married October 26, 1941 in New Hampton and the couple had lived in St. Louis, Mo., Waterloo, Lime Springs and Waterloo before moving to Decorah.

Mr. Koehler was preceded in death by his parents.
