KNUDT HAAGENSON
Wednesday evening, May 23, 1906, at 8 o’clock, Knudt Haagenson, one of the early settlers, died at his home in Springfield township, having been ill since the first of the year.
Knudt Haagenson was born in Norway Aug. 4th, 1826. After coming to America he first settled in Wisconsin, but only for a short time, and then he moved to Springfield township, Winneshiek county, Iowa, where he has lived a quiet life on his farm ever since. During his first years here, he had to market all his grain in McGregor, and worked at a disadvantage for some time but he stayed by it and prospered and had about all this world could offer, but he was called to that other world where there is no sorrow or pain, and where he will meet his just reward for having done his duty here. He was prepared and satisfied to go and slept peacefully away.
His wife and five children survive to mourn his departure, four children having gone before him. The living children are E. K. Hogenson, of Grafton, N. D.; Mrs. Hamre, of Thief River Falls, Minn.; Austen Hogenson of Crystal Springs, N. D.; Andy of Minneapolis, and Anton, who has been staying at home on the farm.
Funeral Saturday, May 26th, at 2 o’clock at the residence and 3 o’clock at the church.-_Calmar Courier.

Transcriber’s Note: The name on his gravestone in Springfield Cemetery shows Haakonson.
