Mrs. P. Barthelme passed away at her home last Tuesday evening after a long and painful illness which she bore very patiently. She had lived in Ravena a good many years and was loved and respected by all who knew her. She was an affectionate mother and a kind neighbor and will be sadly missed.

Last Tuesday evening at 9 o’clock occurred the death of Mrs. P. Barthelme, Sr., which was a sad blow to this community. Mrs. Barthelme had been a resident of Winneshiek county all her life, during which time she gained many friends. The funeral services were held Saturday morning at the Catholic church, Rev. Lechtenberg officiating. All of her children, except Mrs. Phile who is living at Chicago, attended the funeral besides all her brothers and sisters and aged father.

Those of neighboring towns who attended the funeral of Mrs. Barthelme Saturday were: Mr. Nick Wagner, Mrs. Huber and Mrs. Wm. Becker of Fort Atkinson, Mrs. Hauber and daughters, and Mr. and Mrs. Herman Busch and children of Calmar, Hugo Dessel, accompanies by his sister Mrs. Theunte and Mr. and Mrs. John and Fred Etteldorf of Festina and Mr. and Mrs. Hauber of Spillville.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows this was Katharina who was born Dec. 12 1850 and died April 17, 1906. She is buried in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery.
