ALEX MANDERFIELD

Alex Manderfield, a well known resident of the Castalia vicinity, died Sunday morning, August 31, at his home at the age of 86 years.

Funeral services were conducted September 2, by the Rev. Einar Jorgenson of Ossian in the Schutte Funeral Home at Postville. Interment was in Pleasant View cemetery at Castalia.

Alex Manderfield was born April 14, 1872, at Harpers Ferry, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Manderfield. He married Ella Anderson of Ossian on November 30, 1905.

He is survived by his wife, one sister, Matilda McCormick of Waterville, and one brother, Peter Manderfield of Ossian.

Also surviving are four children: Edna (Mrs. Albert Perry) of Postville, Elvie Moore of Castalia, Jessie (Mrs. Wilfred Melcher) of Waterloo and Ralph Manderfield of Castalia. There are six grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two daughters: Mrs. Earl (Hazel) Russell of Ossian and one in infancy, four brothers, two sisters and one great granddaughter.
