Gary Lee Lifka of 411 Washington St. died November 21 at the Naval Hospital in San Diego, Calif. at the age of 19. He had been ill one week with viral pneumonia.

Funeral services were held this morning (Tuesday) at 10:30 a.m. at St. Benedict's Catholic Church with burial in Phelps Cemetery. Father A.P. White gave the funeral mass. Pallbearers were Tom Lifka, Lon Gaines, Kelly Ewer, Tom Shannon, Michael Casper and Walter Wagner. Alan Sensor was organist and Marlin Fretheim was soloist. Funeral arrangements were made by Olson-Fjelstul Funeral Home.

Born in Mason City, Ia. April 11, 1954, Gary Lifka moved to Decorah in 1966 and graduated from Decorah High School May 20, 1973. Before entering the service he was employed at Parker Concrete Co., Milwaukee, Wis.

He is survived by his parents, Mrs. Ben Rear, Decorah and John Lifka of West Bend, Wis.; two brothers, Gale Lifka and Gene Lifka, both at home; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Lucille Wagner, Mason City, Ia., paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Lifka Sr., Modesto, Calif. and serveral aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
