Victor Clarence Hageman, 85, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2021, after a brief stay at the Iowa Jewish Senior Life Center in Des Moines.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Des Moines on Monday, Sept. 27, 2021. A Memorial Service will take place immediately following at 10:30 a.m. A luncheon reception will follow the service.

Victor was born July 29, 1936, to Nicholas and Rosalia (Imoehl) Hageman, in Festina, IA. He was born the second youngest of 11 children, the youngest boy. He helped on the family farm growing up, and carried on the tradition of farming into his early adult years. He married Elaine Kruse Hageman on a cold, wintery Feb. 17, 1958, in St. Lucas, and together they raised seven wonderful children. Victor worked for many years as an awardwinning Amway distributor, with national recognition. Victor and Elaine started a new adventure when they moved to Omaha, Nebraska, and eventually, in 1999, made their way to Des Moines, Iowa, which they have called home ever since. Victor spent hours in his garden, using his ingenuity to bring various projects to life. His woodworking shop was his happy place, where he created art and beautiful gifts left to be cherished by all. When he was not busy in the garden or woodworking, he thoroughly enjoyed the St. Louis Cardinals, and listening to old country western music.

Victor was gregarious and outgoing, having never met a stranger. He was kind, thoughtful, and quite the jokester. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Theresa's Catholic Church, where he served as an usher, St. Vincent DePaul, served as a Hospital Eucharistic Minister, and was a member of Christ Renews His Parrish.

Victor is survived by his wife, Elaine Hageman; five sons: Brian (Julia) Hageman of Decorah, IA, Bruce (Michelle) Hagemann of Plano, TX, Andy (Brenda) Hageman of Decorah, IA, Arlin Hageman of Osage Beach, MO, and Allan (Venessa) Hageman of Des Moines, IA; two daughters: Brenda (Ned) Williams of Blue Springs, MO, and Bonnie Hageman of Des Moines, IA; three sisters: Lucille Kruse of Des Moines, IA, Delores Kuennen of Sumner, IA, and Sister Joan Hageman of LaCrosse, WI; fourteen grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Florentina Hageman, Rita Wenthold, and Vera Kriener; brothers: Marcellinus Hageman, Edwin Hageman, Ermin Hageman, and Quentin Hageman; and great-grandson, William Hageman.

In lieu of flowers, in Victor’s honor, memorial contributions may be made to the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration at the St. Rose Convent in LaCrosse, Wisconsin.
