Jim Bohr died Thursday, November 19, 2020, surrounded by his family after a short illness. He was 81 years of age.
James Edward Bohr was born on January 16, 1939 to Edward and Hildegard (Becker) Bohr of Ossian, IA. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Frances Catholic Church. He attended De Sales Catholic School and in 1956 enlisted into the United States Navy. He was stationed on the USS Shangri-la, an attack aircraft carrier, as a machinist’s mate third class. He was honorably discharged in 1959. The Navy then sent him to machinist mate school at the naval training center in Great Lakes. Ill. where he graduated on October 25, 1959.

Jim was united in marriage on February 8, 1961 to Sheryl Carolan in St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. Two children were born of this union. After their marriage, he purchased the Phillip 66 Station in Ossian, IA. Jim not only sold gas, but he also repaired cars. From simple oil changes to complex engine rebuilds. For fun, he would race stock car on the weekends. In 1969 he went to work for the Milwaukee Railroad as a depot agent. Years later, he ran a black top plant for Road Constructors Company in Oronoco, MN before his retirement.

Jim enjoyed, and was proud of, raising his two sons and making memories with them, fishing and hunting through the years. He also enjoys spending time with his grandchildren and his life-long companion, Sheree Segebart. Jim had many hobbies: including gardening, being a mechanic, spending time at B & B Auto, reading the Wall Street Journal, and watching the stock market.

He is survived by his two sons: Joseph Bohr of Ossian, IA, and David (Jody) Bohr of Calmar, IA; three grandchildren: Logan, Morgan, and Lexi Bohr. He is also survived by his brother Ed Bohr of Ossian, IA, and sister Jane (Bill) Shimek of Ossian, IA and numerous nieces and nephews, his life –long companion: Sheree Segebart and her children: Michelle Budde and children: Lane, Ashley and Alyssa, Alan (Dena) Brown and children: Asia and Danielle.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Dorothy Glover, brothers-in-law: Jackie (Cleo) Carolan and Gary Carolan, parents-in-law: John and Gladys Carolan, and one nephew: Jeffery Bohr , Sheree Segabart’s son: Chuck Brown.

Burial will take place on Friday, May 21, 2021 at 3:00 PM at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery. 715 US-52 Preston MN, 55965.
