Mary Ann Hill, age 78, of Decorah, IA died on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at Wellington Place in Decorah.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at the Schluter-Balik Funeral Home, 604 South Avenue in Decorah.
A graveside service will be held at Canoe Ridge Lutheran Cemetery on Thursday, August 5, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Stacey Nalean-Carlson presiding.
Mary Ann Hill was born July 22, 1943 in Decorah, IA to Paul Reed and Gladys Amundrud. She graduated from Decorah High School in 1961. Mary Ann married Gary Hill on April 8, 1971 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. Mary Ann and Gary owned and operated the Sattre store for a couple years before selling it in 1975. She worked at the Mental Health Center, Norb’s True Value store, and was in housekeeping at the Winneshiek Medical Center in Decorah. She enjoyed the company and cards at “Your Place”, playing cribbage, fishing, watching and feeding the birds, gardening, cooking, and baking lots of cookies.
Mary Ann is survived by her husband, Gary Hill, Decorah, IA. Children: Ron (Angie Rose-Treloar) Hill, Decorah, IA, Scott (Laura) Hill, Decorah, IA, Rod “Tooter” (Renee) Hill, Decorah, IA, and Travis Hill, Decorah, IA. Grandchildren: Austin, Mason, Ethan, and Henry Hill. Brother: Kenneth (Susan) Hennings, Decorah, IA. Sisters: Gloria (Leo Bartlett) Anderson and Polly Schadt. Sisters-in-law: Catherine (Gary) Compston, Tracey (Jim) Sutton, Lynn (Kevin) Thornton. Brother-in-law: Tom (Kathy) Hill. Many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Paul Reed and Gladys (Amunrud) Hennings. Sister: Donna Holthaus. Brother-in-infancy: Ronald Dean Hennings. Father and mother-in-law, Tilman and Marie Hill. Brothers-in-law: Orville Anderson, Bill Schadt, and Adrian Holthaus.
