Funeral services for Henry R. Severson, 73, were held Wednesday, July 2, at the Big Canoe Lutheran Church. Rev. W.T. Hexom officiated and burial was made in the Big Canoe cemetery. The remains were carried to their last resting place by Walter Ruffridge, Ray Mullaney, Melvin Barth, Carl Stortz, Vernon Stoskopf and Otto Severson. He died Sunday, June 29 from a heart attack.
Mr. Severson was born June 24, 1874, in Pleasant township, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ole Severson. On Sept. 26, 1906, he married Clara Stoskopf, who died in 1938.
His surviving children are: Sylvan at home, Leonard of Decorah and Everett of Mabel, Lillian (Mrs. Arthur Stoskopf) and Clarissa (Mrs Roger Danielson) of Mabel; Violet (Mrs Lester Styve) and Edna (Mrs Norman Fisher), both of Decorah. His daughter, Evelyn, died in infancy. Also surviving are his sisters, Lizzie Severson and Mrs. Alvin Barth, and a brother, Ed Ostenson, all of Decorah. Eleven grandchildren also survive.
On the flower committee were Mrs. Leo Baburek, Mrs. Walter Ruffridge and Mrs. Mayme Thompson.
