Rites Held For Steven Frana, 48, Calmar Farmer

Steven Frana, Calmar farmer, died Monday, May 13 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn. at the age of 48. Mr. Frana was born and raised in Decorah and was a veteran of the Korean War.
He was a member of St. Benedicts Catholic Church in Decorah, and final rites were conducted there by the Rev. A.P.White Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. with burial in St. Benedict's Cemetery. Pallbearers were Art Kruse, Martin Frana, Noel Henry, Gary Frana, Rudy Humpal and Clarence Falness.
Music was provided by the 7th and 8th grade students of St. Benedict;s Catholic Church who sang, soloist Marlin Fretheim and organist Alan Sensor. Arrangements were made by Olson-Fjelstul Funeral Home.
Mr. Frana is survived by his wife, the former Rose Ellen O'Brien, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank O'Brien of Decorah; eight sons and daughters, Michael, Ramona, Tim, John, Beth, Christy, Paul and Sharon, all at home.
Other survivors are five brothers, Raymond Frana, Ridgeway; Richard Frana, Calmar, Robert Frana, Decorah, Walter Frana, Cedar Rapids and Vincent Frana, Spillville and four sisters, Mildred Poshusta, and Marcella Lee, Calmar, Frances O'Brien, Cedar Rapids and Rita Jirak, Waucoma, Ia.
Steven Frank Frana was born July 23, 1925 in Decorah where he graduated from Decorah High School. He was married April 16, 1956 in Decorah.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
