DIED.
BISBY-At his home in this city, on the 13th inst., BENJAMIN LEX BISBY, aged 69 years and 27 days.
Mr. Bisby was born in Chautauqua county, N Y., Nov. 17th, 1826 and there his youth and early manhood days were spent. In 1851 he came to this county. entered the land in Hesper township whereon he resided until 1870 when he moved to Decorah, where he has lived for a quarter century. This make him one of the very pioneers in northern Winnesheik. In 1855 he married Miss Decker, who survives him. Mr. Bisby was a man of active life, and rugged health until about two years ago, when an infection of the kidneys appeared. This developed slowly at first, until only about 3 months ago did it assume an aggravated form. In October he went to Iowa City to secure hospital treatment, and not until his arrival there did he become so seriously ill as to be confined to his bed. Typhoid fever intervened and his death resulted from a complication of these diseases. When death seemed imminent he yearned anxiously to get home to die, and on Wednesday last week he came attended by his physician, not knowing but death would meet him on the road. He survived until 9:30 a. m. Friday, when death came to his relief.
In early life Mr. Bisby experienced religion and united with the Baptist church, and to the last maintained his trust in that faith. He was an earnest Republican, a man of general intelligence, genial temper and always companionable —a lover of home and friends who will miss him sorely.
Funeral services were held on Sunday last, and his remains were interred in the Burr Oak cemetery. Rev. W. D. James officiating.
