Gone to Rest.
Charles Francis died at the County Hospital at Freeport, on the 26th inst., and was buried from the home of his parents in this city on Monday last. He was born in Decorah, the second son of Mr. and Mrs. G. F. Francis, thirty-five years ago. At the age of four he was kicked in the head by a horse, and although it was years after that the most serious results developed, his subsequent misfortune no doubt sprang from this accident. As a school boy he was remarkably bright as a scholar. As he grew towards manhood he became first odd and subsequently an active mental derangement was noticeable. He was taken to Independence for treatment, but received no help and finally settled into a hopeless case. When the hospital at Freeport was opened he was removed thither, and remained there until death came to his relief. A large company of old friends of the family attended the funeral to testify in a mute way their sympathy for the doubly-bereaved parents. Rev. D. L. Hilliard officiated.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he was born in 1859 and is buried in Phelps Cemetery in an unmarked grave.
