SARAH SMITH SHARP was born in Yorkshire, England, May 12th, 1828, and died at her residence in Canoe Township Jan. 27, 1895, aged 66 years and 9 months. She was married to Wm. Sharp in the spring of 1850 and came with him to Quebec, Can., in the same year, They removed to Iowa and settled in Canoe township in 1851. This has been the place of residence ever since. Fifteen years ago she was called to part with her husband. Twelve children they had, all of whom survive her save one who preceded her to the great beyond. Mrs. Sharp was sick but one week but it was the great messenger to summons her notice. In her early life she was a member of the Church of England. The funeral was held from her late home yesterday, Rev. F. P. Shaffer of the Methodist Church officiating, attended by a large company of friends and neighbors. She was laid away in the Russell cemetary.
