GARFIELD— At the old home near Conover, Iowa, Jan. 13th. 1895 of old age, Mrs. Lucinda Lund Garfield, aged 92 years, 7 mouths and 21 days.
Mother Garfield was born in Weston, Windsor Co., Vt., May 28th, 1802. She was married to Ira Garfield, Sept. 2d, l826. He died Aug. 21st, 1891. To them were born five children, four of whom are living, viz :—Daniel Garfield, of Ipswich, S. D„ Henry W, Garfield, of Minneapolis, Mrs. S. C. Dudley, of Decorah, and Mrs. J. L. McCulloch, of Conover. with whom she made her home during the last of her life.
Grandma Garfield has been a resident of Winnesheik Co. since 1857, having removed here from Mechanicsville, Vt. She was the last of a family of ten children, having lived to a greater age than the rest of her family. She has been a member of the Baptist church for over sixty years, and died in the triumph of the Christian faith. She retained her mental and physicial powers to a remarkable degree until Nov. 23d, 1894 since when she has suffered intensely, but bore up with patience, praying for rest in Him whom she trusted.
