OBITUARY.
MARY ANN GORMAN, deceased, was born in Norfolk Co,, Canada, Nov, 14th, 1840. At the age of 11 years, with her parents, she removed to Winneshiek Co„ Iowa, where she has since resided. Oct 8th, 1858, she was united in marriage to Isaac Birdsell. To them six children were born—two boys and four girls—all of whom survive. In the winter of 1892 she was converted and united with the United brethren church, and has since lived a consistent Christian life. In the spring of ‘95 she, with her husband, removed to Frankville where they resided at the time of her death. For several years she has had paroxysms of intense suffering from neuralgia of the heart and lungs. Four weeks ago she was taken with a complication of plurisy and tuberculosis, gradually growing worse until the end came.
She was a genial friend, an affectionate wife, a tender and loving mother, and the attachment between herself and children was of an unusually tender and sympathetic character.
She died peacefully in the triumphs of living faith in Christ at 11:30 o'clock a. m., June 1st, 1896, aged 55 years, 6 months and 17 days. Rev. Harper, of the United Brethren church of Castalia, and Rev. E. P. Stubbs, of the M. E. church of Frankville, officiated at the funeral services held in the Centennial church. She was interred in the cemetery adjoining, June 3d.
