Theola Haugen, age 82, of Decorah, IA, died on Friday, January 29, 2021, at the Winneshiek Medical Center in Decorah, IA.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 3, 2021, at the Decorah Lutheran Church, with Rev. Peter Kowitz presiding. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery in the Spring.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m., until the time of service at the church on Wednesday morning.

Theola Mae (Bixby) Haugen was born on February 20, 1938 to Percy and Loretta (Grover) Bixby in Perham, MN. She graduated from Grand Rapids, MN high school. She worked at a bank there and later in Chicago before moving to Decorah in 1962. Here, she and her late husband, Raymond helped run Haugen Bros. Plumbing and Heating and the Maid-Rite Café until 1971 when they started Haugen-Hummel subdivision. In 1975, they purchased the Old Winneshiek Hotel which they converted to apartments. She and Raymond ran that until his death in 1981. Theola married Gerald Haugen on December 3, 1982. She and Gerald continued to manage the apartment complex until they retired in 1997. Her hobbies included reading books, quilting, crafts, going to the Depot for treasures, but her most treasured hobby was watching her family grow. She was a member of the Decorah Lutheran Church, Vesterheim and the Decorah Geneology Assoc.
Theola is survived by her daughters: Terry (Carl Naley) Casterton, Decorah, IA and Karen (Dan) Henry, Ridgeway, IA. Stepchildren Gary (Wanda), Clermont, FL; Mark (Edna), Orange Park, FL; Jeffrey (Elizabeth), Jacksonville, FL and Heidi (Bo), Big Springs, TX. Five grandchildren, twelve step-grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and twenty-one step-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Raymond Haugen, daughter Pamela Haugen, grandson Michael Schroeder, second husband Gerald Haugen, parents Percy and Loretta (Grover) Bixby, mother and father-in-law; Edgar and Lilly (Moe) Haugen and brother Norman Bixby.
