OBITUARY.
MRS. CHRISTIANA GIBBS was born in Brookfield, Essex Co.. New York, May 30th, 1819. She died in Decorah, Iowa, Feb. 21st, 1896, aged 77 years. She was married to Morrell Gibbs, at Westport, N.Y., in 1842, her husband dying in 1874. With her family she moved to Iowa in 1864, settling four miles east of Decorah, where she resided until her removal to Decorah about ten years ago.
In early life, while still a resident of New York State, she was converted and joined the M. E, church. She was to all appearances a woman of few words, but forming her own opinions. She lived for years past, knowing that this world was not her home, saying often in regard to the uncertainty of life,—it is is{sic} all right. The pastor visited her during a serious illness last year, and found her resting her salvation in Christ alone, and this was also of her the day before she died, as she said in answer to a question, “My trust is in Christ.” The funeral was held in her late home, on Sunday afternoon, attended by a large circle of friends and relatives, Rev. F. P. Shaffer preaching the sermon.

Transcriber's Note: Her gravestone in Phelps Cemetery appears to show she was born in 1818.
