NELSON:
Torger Nelson, an old and highly respected resident of this county, died last Friday, Jan. 29, at the home of his son-in-law Steen Henderson, in Orleans township, the cause of death being cancer. Mr. Nelson was born in Norway and cane to Winneshiek county with his parents at the age of three years. Here he grew to manhood and married, his wife being Caroline Christen, sister of Clarence and Albert Christen and Mrs. Bertha Mott of this city. Beside his wife he is survived by five children—Mrs. Henderson, Mrs. Webb Langdon, Nels, Bertha and Mahlon Nelson. During the greater part of his life Mr. Nelson was engaged in farming, an occupation he relinquished only a few years ago. He was sixty-eight years of age at the time of his death. While it was not given him to live out man's allotted span, his life was marked by active usefulness and good citizenship. The funeral will be held to-morrow, Rev. H. M. Normann, of Cresco officiating.—Decorah Republican.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows his name as Torgey and that he was born May 24, 1847 and is buried in Orleans Lutheran Cemetery.
