DIED.
REEVES—In Decorah, Thursday, July 1st, 1897, after an illness of eight weeks from dropsy, Mrs. Elsa Reeves, wife of Nathan Reeves, in her 56th year.
Mrs. Reeves’ maiden name was Staples and she was born in Toronto, Canada. July 2d, 1841. She came to Iowa at an early day, and on Oct. 22d, 1859, was married to Mr. Reeves at West Union. Later they moved to McGregor and there made their home for thirty years. For the past five years their home has been in Decorah. Nine children were born to them, five of whom—two sons and three daughters—with the husband, survive her. The funeral service was held at the M. E. Church, Sunday afternoon, Rev. L. L. Lockard officiating. The remains were interred in the Phelps cemetery.
