Death of Mrs. Arthur Isbel.
It is with feelings of sorrow that we record the death of Mrs. Arthur Isbel, which occurred at her home at Calmar Monday evening at about eleven o’clock. Mrs. Isbel had been quite ill for some weeks but not until the latter part of last week did her friends fear the worst. Mrs. Isbel was well known in Cresco as Miss Gertrude Leland, having taught in our public school a number of years, and was loved and respected by all who knew her. Of her may truthfully be said the world was better for her having lived in it.
Out of respect to the deceased, the Cresco High school closed and several of these teachers, as well as the graduating class, attended the funeral at Calmar to-day.—Cresco Republican. April {?}th

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows the name spelled Isbell and that she was born in 1869. She is buried in Fairview Cemetery in Cedar Falls.

Mrs. Gertrude Isbell quietly passed away on the 26th of April after an illness of several months duration. Two years ago she was married to A. W. Isbell and came to Calmar to live. During these two years she has made many warm friends who deeply mourn her death. The funeral services were conducted at the house, Rev. C. A. Parkin officiating. A large number of friends from Cresco and Decorah were present. After the services the remains were taken to Cedar Falls for interment. Mr. Isbell has the sincere sympathy of the entire community.
