Death from a Circular Saw.
Decorah Journal.
The little 6 year old son of Andrew Larsen, living one mile west, of John McKay's place on the Frankville road, met a terrible death last Saturday. Mr. Larsen was sawing wood with a power sawing machine, and the little fellow was of course around watching them. For amusement when no one was looking he placed his hand on the tumbling rod which furnishes the power to the saw, probably just to allow it to spin around in his hand. Unfortunately his mitten was wet and instantly became frozen to the rapidly revolving shaft, and before assistance could be given him, the poor boy was sent whirling to the opposite side of the rod and dashed headforemost upon the hard frozen ground, and his arm completely torn from his body. When picked up life had fled.

Andrew Larson’s 8 year son met with a terrible accident which ended his life very suddenly last Saturday. He was at home, and wood was being sawed with a circle saw. The little fellow somehow got caught in the tumbling rod and whirled around tearing his arm entirely from his body and crushing his brains so they were scattered on the ground. Death must have been instantaneous. We sympathize with the parents and other relatives.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows this was Harry who was born June 14, 1889 and died March 6, 1897. He is buried in the North Washington Prairie Cemetery. It also shows the name spelled Larson.
