Soreno Putnam, living in the eastern part of this township, died at his late home Aug. 22d. Mr. Putnam had been seriously ill about two weeks, and was a great sufferer until relieved by death. The funeral occurred from the Congregational church at Postville on August 23d. He was a veteran of the War of the Rebellion, having answered to his country’s call when quite a young man, and served to the end of the war. He was a good neighbor, kind husband and loving father and will be most missed at the home circle where he was almost always found. We are not furnished with a biography.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows the name spelled Surreno and that he was born in 1841 and is buried in the Postville Cemetery.
