Death Claims Beloved One.
Allie Potter Belding, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. V. Potter and wife of Dr. George H. Belding, died at the family home in Calmar Sunday morning, July 16th, 1899, after an illness extending over a number of months.
Born in Fountain Prairie, Wis. Jan. 27th, 1863, she came as an infant to this county, and with the exception of two years spent at Conover and one year in Decorah she has always lived in Calmar. In October, 1889, she was married to Dr. George R, Belding. To them three children were born, all of whom died in infancy. During the past three years Mrs. Belding has been an invalid. For some time she was afflicted with inflammatory rheumatism and last November went to the sanitarium at Battle Creek, Mich., for treatment, returning home in April. Soon after she suffered an attack, of grip, which was the ultimate cause of her death. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, Rev. M. Willett of this city officiating.
As the only child in a loving home there was lavished upon Mrs. Belding a wealth of affection, and she received all the educational and social advantages this section afforded. Being gifted with a beautiful voice it was one of the pleasures of her friends to hear her sing. Besides this she possessed those qualities of heart and mind which endeared her to a wide and ever-widening circle of friends and acquaintances, who join the afflicted ones in mourning her death.
