Death of L. F. Nelson.
Louis F. Nelson died at his home in this city shortly before nine o’clock yesterday morning after two years’ illness from a complication of diseases.
Mr. Nelson was born In Christiania, Norway, on Aug. 4th, fifty-four years ago and came to America when quite young, living first in Wisconsin. Later he moved to Frankville where he enlisted on Dec. 2d, 1861, as a private in Co. D, 13th Iowa Regular Infantry, serving four and one-half years. In 1872 he was married to Hannah D. Drew. To them ten children were born, eight of whom with the mother survive him.
For a time Mr. Nelson served as a clerk in the post office under A. K. Bailey and he was a faithful servant to the public and his superior. Failing health compelled him to seek other occupation which would permit more outdoor life and for several years he was engaged in the grocery business. Being frugal in his living he acquired a moderate competence which enabled him to retire from active commercial life. He afterwards served four years as deputy revenue collector under President Cleveland
The funeral will be held to-morrow (Friday) morning at the Catholic church at 9:30 o’clock.

Transcriber’s Note: His gravestone in St. Benedict Cemetery show he was born in 1846. It also shows the name as Lars F. "Lewis"
