Three Deaths in a Week.
Three deaths from spinal fever, or cerebro spinal meningitis, occurred within one week. The first, was that of Ed. Gillett, who died on the 6th inst., at the residence of Chas. Brooks, and whose remains were taken to Mason City for burial. The second was that of Mrs. H. R. Thomas, reported in another column, who died Monday; and the third is Mrs. Charles March, who died Tuesday afternoon. —The funeral of Mrs. H. R. Thomas will be to-morrow afternoon at 2 o'clock from the family residence. Interment will be in the Phelps’ cemetery.

DIED.
THOMAS—At the family home in the west part of Decorah township, on the 10th inst., after an illness of a week, Mary Bentley, wife of H. R. Thomas, aged 60 years.
Mary Bentley, the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Bentley, was born in England but came to the United States with her parents when quite young. They settled first in Steubenville, Ohio, and came to Iowa in the spring of 1856. She married in March, 1858, and became the mother of five children, three of whom, with her aged mother, and husband survive her. Death resulted from spinal fever which first manifested a serious form on Tuesday last week. A physician was called at once, but delirium ensued on the following day from which she did not recover. The funeral service will be from the family home to-morrow afternoon at 2 o’clock. Burial will be in the Phelps’ cemetery.Transcriber’s Note: Phelps Cemetery records show she was born March 17, 1838.
