M. J. Bolland, who was taken to the hospital for the insane, at Independence, on the 6th inst., died on the 18th. The body was brought home on the 20th, and the funeral services were held on the 23d. The writer has no data at hand from which to give a sketch of Mr. Bolland's life. Having known him well for about twenty-four year, can say that he was one of our most honorable and upright citizens. He leaves a wife, two sons and a daughter to mourn his loss.

Transcriber’s Note: Iowa Gravestone Photos show he was born Sept. 2, 1829 and is buried in Hesper Lutheran Cemetery.
