Ole A. Flaskerud, an old resident of this township, died at his home in Calmar on the 24th inst., at the age of 70 years, Mr. Flaskerud came from Norway in 1853 and settled on a homestead near Conover, where he resided until he moved to Calmar about five years ago. The following year he was married to the companion who survives him. They were, it is said, the first couple married in this county by the venerable Rev. V. Koren. Ten children were born to this pioneer couple, nine of whom are still living, our townsmen, A. O. and Erik Flaskerud, and Mrs. G. A. Egge, being among the number. Mr. Flaskerud had been failing for quite a while but the immediate cause of death was a stroke of paralysis.
Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he was born Jan. 5, 1829 and is buried in Calmar Lutheran Cemetery.
