On Sunday last, March 12, at the Decorah hospital, Melvin William Childe, youngest son of the last Amasa Childe, passed away after an illness of one week, the cause of his death being hemorrhage of the stomach. The deceased is survived by his brothers Charles, of Rossville and George of Los Angeles, and his sisters, Mrs. Estella Kidder of Harmony, Mrs. Alice Elwick of Waukon, Mrs. Florence Bervin and Mary Childe, of Centerville, S.D., and Mrs. Grace Amundson, with whom he had lived. The funeral was held yesterday morning at ten o'clock at the United Lutheran church, Rev. O.E. Schmidt officiating and interment was made in Phelps cemetery.
