Mrs. Nancy Hawk-McClintock, the subject of this memoir, died Nov. 30th, 1900, in her 63d year. Nancy Hawk was born in Jackson. Jackson county, Ohio. Jan. 9th, 1838, and came to Iowa in 1849 with her parents. She was the eldest daughter of a family of nine children born to Isaac and Sarah Hawk, of, which her aged father, one brother and three sisters survive her. G. W. Hawk, of Estherville, Iowa, Mrs. Mary Hazel, of Burr Oak, Mrs. Catherine Fitzgerald of Ruthven, Iowa, and Mrs. Sarah Kline, of Burr Oak. Nancy Hawk was married to Charles A. McClintock in Frankville, Winnesheik county, Iowa, June 27th, 1856 where they have resided since. She was the mother of eight children, six boys and two girls, who with her husband, survive to mourn her loss. The oldest son, B. J. McClintock, resides at New Hamilton, Mrs. Mary Ewing, in Allamakee county, Robert at the home of his parents, Albert at Minneapolis, Sylvester at Ossian, Eugenia Emo at Postville, Charles, Jr., on the home farm, and Edward, at Minneapolis. Minn.
Mrs. McClintock became a member of the M. C. church. She has since led an earnest and consistent Christian life, beloved in the home circle, a devoted wife, a loving and affectionate mother, a kind neighbor, respected and loved by her neighbors and by all with whom she came in tact. Her last illness was one of extreme suffering, yet she bore it all with great fortitude. Her life was a benediction to her family and friends. The family hearthstone is left desolate by their loss, but she has entered into a sweet rest. The funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 3rd, at the home of the deceased, conducted by Rev Bargess, assisted by Rev. A. S. Gregg.
