IVERSON, IVERSEN, HALSETH

Death of an Old Resident.
Mr. Ole Iversen Halseth, an old and respected citizen of Orleans congregation, passed away on the 15th inst. He was born in Sagen, Norway, June 25th, 1833, came to this country and to Decorah in 1861, and has lived In Winnesheik county since. The funeral services were held at Orleans congregation, conducted by Rev. O. Otteson. It was the largest funeral ever witnessed in that vicinity. Mr. Iversen was one of the oldest settlers in Orleans, had lived there 37 years and was well known and highly respected. The deceased leaves a wife and nine children,—two daughters and seven sons,—all of whom were present at the funeral except Severt, who was in Black Hills, S. D., at the time, but came back home a few hours too late for the funeral.

Transcriber’s Note: The above shows his last name both as Halseth and Iversen; however, Orleans Lutheran Cemetery shows Iverson and his birth year as 1835.
