OBITUARY.
LYONS—Died at her home in Jackson township July 23, 1900, Mrs. Ann Lyons, aged 70 years and 9 months.
The deceased was born in the county of Monaghan, Ireland, in 1829. She came to America with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. P. K. Brennan, in 1839, and settled in Ohio until the fall of 1852, when they came to Fayette county, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Patrick Lyons, June 18th, 1856, and moved to Winnesheik county, where she lived and died. Of this union there were twelve children. Her husband and nine of them are living to mourn her loss. There were eight of her children at her bedside when she died, after a lingering illness of two years which she bore with great patience until the last moment.
The funeral cortege wended its way to the cemetery at St. Rose’s church, where a requiem mass was offered up by the paster, Rev. Father Hogan, who preached a very appropriate sermon on death The funeral was the largest that ever was at St. Rose.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows her name as Anna and that she is buried in Fayette County. Her maiden name is shown as Brannan and her gravestone shows her year of birth as 1830.
