ELLEN GIBSON SHERMAN.
On Sunday last a telegram brought the sad intelligence to Mr. and Mrs. R. F. Gibson that their elder daughter, Mrs. M. B. Sherman, had died the day before at her home near Payette, Idaho, after an illness of about two weeks from childbirth. Hopeful reports had come to them of her condition, but all that physicians and careful nursing could do were of no avail.
Ellen Gibson was born in Decorah Nov. 4, 1864, and until she was married to M. B. Sherman, of Fredericksburg, on Aug. 31, 1891, this was always her home. In September of the same year they went to Idaho, where Mr. Sherman engaged in fruit farming near Payette. Together they had struggled in making a home, and life's pathway was becoming rosy with promise of a successful working out of their plans when death came to the home and took away the mother. Three children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Sherman, two of whom—Robert and Milo—with the husband, parents, one brother and one sister survive to keep green the memory of one who was faithful and loving to them in all her relations.
Mrs. Sherman was a woman of earnest Christian character and was a member of the Congregational church of Decorah. Prior to her marriage she was a teacher in the Decorah public schools for seven years and as such enjoyed the respect and esteem of her co-laborers and pupils.Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows she is buried in Riverside Cemetery in Payette, ID and it shows her first name as Ella.
