BANKER TODD DEAD.
Pathetic Sequel to the Failure of the Fillmore County Bank.
Preston, Minn., June 21.—M. R. Todd, the ex banker and partner of J. R. Clemente, who has been twice found guilty of defrauding the depositors of the Fillmore County bank, died last night at 11 o’clock from diabetes. Mr. Todd was released from jail on bail some months ago on account of ill health, many of the heaviest losers in the bank being his bail. He has been able to be about town, and was at Caledonia last week giving testimony in the second trial of Clements. He came home exhausted, and went to bed and gradually sank until relieved by death. He leaves a widow and two children in destitute circumstances.
Mrs. Todd is nearly heart-broken, being left alone without any means whatever. She made a deed of the homestead or bank building recently, so she is left without a home, also. She deserves much sympathy.
