HUNG HERSELF.
Mrs. Ingre Anderson, of Springfield Township, takes Her own Life Sunday Last.
Last Sunday morning while alone at home with her husband, Mrs. Ingre Anderson, wife of John Anderson, living three miles southeast of Nordness, took her own life by hanging. Mr. and Mrs. Anderson are aged people and during the past three years Mr. Anderson has noticed that his wife seemed to be failing mentally. She appeared to fear or dislike strangers and would go into the grove near their home when one visited the house. He was afraid she would wander away and get lost, but did not fear she would kill herself as she had told him she would not. Sunday morning Mrs. Anderson appeared more rational than usual. After reading a while she began getting the noon meal ready. In reply to the question as to why she was preparing the meal so early she said she didn’t think she would be able to get it later. They were expecting their son Andrew Lee and wife out from Decorah to spend the day. About eleven o’clock she went up stairs, saying she would lie down for a while. After some little time Mr. Anderson went up stairs to see how she was, as it was unusual for her to remain quiet so long. He found her standing in a leaning position, a doubled piece of binding twine passed over a beam and her head passed through a noose. He cut the twine and laid her down, but she was dead.
Dr. P. M. Jewell, county coroner, was called, and on arriving impanelled a jury composed of Oliver Anderson, Andrew E. Lee and James Gullickson. Their investigation resulted in a verdict in accordance with the above facts.
