MRS EDWARD WICKS
Miria{?} Berry was born in Vestal, Broome Co., New York, Sept. 13th, 1849. She moved with her parents to Iowa in 1856. On November 28th, 1869, she was married to Edward Wicks. To them were born three sons and one daughter. During her married life she lived In Iowa with the exception of ten years, when she lived In Lenora, Minn. About 15 years ago she was converted, and joined the M. E. church in Ridgeway She was a woman of firm religious convictions, and earnest into her efforts to persuade others to accept the religion of Christ. She met the last enemy as only the Christian can, selected the hymns and text for her funeral service, and made all arrangements for her burial, and went down in the valley of the shadow of death, fearing no evil. She was an affectionate wife, a loving and tender mother, and leaves a husband, three sons and one daughter, besides a large circle of friends to mourn her departure. She died at the family home one mile north of Burr Oak village, April 1st, 1900. Her funeral services were conducted at the M. E. church by the pastor, Rev. Wm. Cummings, and was attended by a large concourse of friends, who deeply sympathise with the bereaved family.Transcriber’s Note: Burr Oak Cemetery shows the name as Maria.
