THE WORK OF THE REAPER.
C. CHRISTIAN died Tuesday, March 6th, at the home in Pleasant township, where he had lived since 1856, and was buried on Friday last from the M. E. church in Pleasant township, of which he had been a devoted member from its start.
Deceased was born in Norway, Aug. 28th 1817; married Annie Marla Larson. Oct. 21st, 1843, and came to the United States ten years later. After living three years in Wisconsin they came to Iowa and found a home in Pleasant township, where he has ever been a respected and useful citizen. Nine children—three sons and six daughters—were born to them, of whom all but a son who died in infancy and a daughter who lived to maturity, survive him to comfort the aged wife and mother, who is now parted from him after fifty-six years of loving association. These are.

Albert Christian, of Pleasant tp.
Mrs. Edwin Hover, of Pleasant tp.
Mrs. E G Opdahl, of Decorah.
Mrs. K. K. Liquin, of Dysart.
Mrs. John Tarvestad, of Elberon, Io.
Mrs. L. O. Johnson, of Pleasant tp.
All these were present at his funeral and five of them arrived in time to receive a father’s recognition and the parental blessing.
Deceased was converted in 1855, united with the Methodist Episcopal church and in his everyday life exemplified the religion he professed. After 83 years of useful living he is at rest.
