OBITUARY.
Died on Wednesday. Feb. 21,1900, at her home two miles northeast of Fort Atkinson, MRS. ELIZABETH SCHELLER, aged 81 years. Elizabeth Weis was born Feb. 6th, 1819, in Zurich, Switzerland. In the year 1847, she was married to Henry Scheller, and to the union seven children were born, three of whom survive. In 1853, the family emigrated to this country, coming directly to Fort Atkinson, Iowa, where they made their home continuously on the farm on which they first settled. The death of Mr. Scheller occurred July 1st, 1888.
From the foregoing it will be seen that the deceased was among the early settlers of this county, suffering many privations and hardships in those years gone by.
For over thirty years she has been a member of the German Congregational Church at Fort Atkinson, but prevented from attending services the last few years on account of illness. A son and two daughters—Herman Scheller, Louisa Scheller and Mrs. Chris Krumm — survive to mourn the loss of their best friend, their mother. An aged sister, Mrs. M. Weber, living near Richfield, Iowa, also survives.
The funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 23d, at 11:00 A, M. Revs. Parkin, of Calmar, and Zumstein, of New Hampton, officiating. The attendance was large and indicated the sympathy and esteem of neighbors and friends.
