MRS. HENRY ADAMS.
Another of the pioneer mothers of this city and county has passed away. Mrs. Henry Adams, died at her home in this city last Wednesday evening, after an illness of several weeks, from a complication of diseases. She had not been able to partake of any food of a substantial nature for nearly three weeks.
Nancy A. Jodon was the daughter of Geo. and Mary Jodon, born at Jersey Shore, on the Susquahanea river, Pennsylvania, Dec. 1st, 1824. In 1833 the family moved to French Creek Flats, near Waterford. Erie Co., Penn. There she met Mr. Henry Adams, who survives her, and was married to him May 3, 1843. In 1855 Mr. and Mrs. Adams came to Winnesheik County, Iowa, where they have since resided.
Mrs. Adams was the mother of four children, Mary and Oscar having died in infancy. The surviving children, Geo., the eldest born, having been born at Waterford, Penn , and Frank P., the youngest, born in this county, are representative business men of Decorah today, the former being the present mayor of Decorah and a leading member of the county bar. George Jodon, the father of Mrs. Adams was of French blood and served as a soldier of the war of 1812. Her mother was of Scotch-Irish blood.
Mrs. Adams was one of the respected and beloved mothers of this city; a helpfull, affectionate life companion to the aged husband who survives, and a kind and loving mother. Among her circle of friends she will be missed. The funeral services were held at the home of Geo. W. Adams on Washington street Saturday afternoon, Dr. M. Willett officiating.
